Does Bookmark Buddy work with Google Chrome?

You can open bookmarks in Chrome, but at present you cannot 'fetch' bookmarks. This is because Google has not (to my knowledge) implemented a standard Windows method for inter-application communication (DDE or COM) and so requires the development of a browser-specific plug-in.

You can however add bookmarks by dragging the icon in the address bar onto Bookmark Buddy. If you set up the hot key to 'Activate Bookmark Buddy', type that key combination as you drag the URL and Bookmark Buddy will pop to the front.

To add Chrome to Bookmark Buddy:

  1. Select Configure web browsers from the Browser menu.
  2. Click Add button.
  3. Navigate to the chrome.exe file, which you will find in one of these locations:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\
    • C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\
    • C:\Users\[your-user-name]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\
